Cobject Theory: Aligning Intent with Content
An experiment in coaching a Large Language Model to align its responses with the intent of the prompt.
Date: October 2025 — Public Record
Purpose: Taking the Most Effective Action
A Cobject is a Communication Object. Cobject Theory defines an atomic structure for how we communicate. Through a number of transformations, expressed in terms of Datrons, Infoments, Kompounds and Wislets it appears that wisdom emerges. The transformations have parallels in physical and chemical systems. Within our communication, the physics defines the energy relationships and the chemistry describes how bonds form, creating harmony with each other.
Each Cobject contains intent and content, and observations have indicated that a "coached" Large Language Model (LLM) can consistently classify Cobjects and infer the intent and understand the content. These transformations align with the Value Pyramid first proposed by Russell L. Ackoff (1989), clarifying the mechanism by which data becomes information, information becomes knowledge, and knowledge is applied to make the wisest decision, the "holy grail" of the computer age.
“When intent and content are both aligned, resonance occurs." Wisdom Emerges.
Core Constructs
Cobject Theory is composed of three key components:
- The KWID Paradigm: An analogy with Classical Mechanics, defining the continuum from Data to Information to Knowledge to Wisdom through physical laws of energy and motion.
- The Periodic Table of Infoments (PTI): Treats communication as a chemical system and classifies informational atoms by intent, clarity and bonding valence.
- The Energy System: Describes the inevitability of emergent bonding through potential, relational and catalytic energy, governed by entropy and Gibbs Free Energy.
The Value Pyramid
This model expresses the transformational journey from data to wisdom and demonstrates how each layer builds upon the previous one, with transformations driving the ascent from foundational data to the pinnacle of wisdom.
The Layers
- Data (Datron): The raw, unprocessed facts that form the foundation of all information systems.
- Information (Infoment): Structured and related data that provides context for interpretation.
- Knowledge (Kompound): Coagulated units of information that bond together to create a new concept.
- Wisdom (Wislet): Applied Knowledge to real-world scenarios with foresight and judgment.
The Transformations
- Relationship - Data to Information (R): Information is created by establishing relationships between data points. This process gives raw data context.
- Interpretation - Information to Knowledge (I): Knowledge emerges by synthesizing information, producing that "I know what you mean" moment.
- Application - Knowledge to Wisdom: Acquired Knowledge is applied thoughtfully and contextually to make decisions, solve problems, and create value.
Current Objective
To construct an Interpretation Engine that transforms structured information into knowledge and, through feedback, provides the wisest response. This work underpins applied systems such as AskGargi and CloudDocs, both built on the principle of aligning intent with content.
